Text Workflow is a text transformation and automation utility for Mac from Georgios Trigonakis. It’s built to get the formatting mess out of AI and web text, and chain repetitive text tasks into one-click workflows. The app aims to address a common annoyance: pasting in an answer from ChatGPT, Claude, or a website, only to be met with stray markdown symbols, citation tags, curly quotes, invisible characters and broken line breaks. Text Workflow does it all on-device and offline, so the text never leaves your Mac just to be reformatted. Version 2.8.1 adds a new Compare Text feature that shows the added and removed text between two versions of text, and performance and stability improvements. Text Workflow is not just a find and replace tool, it has 50 plus different text actions and a workflow builder that allows you to chain them together. The output of each action can be fed directly into the next, workflows can be nested inside other workflows and steps can be turned on and off or be reordered by dragging. The app is deeply integrated with macOS via the Services menu (so you can convert text from anywhere in any app with a right-click), Apple Shortcuts (so you can make every workflow a Shortcuts action), and optional menu bar-only operation. AI is simply one optional link in a long chain. A custom-prompt action can call out to OpenAI, Anthropic or Apple’s on-device model or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, using the user’s own API key and not passing through the developer’s own servers. Workflows sync to iPhone, iPad and Mac through iCloud.
