About Internet Speed Test: Speedio 4.4 for Mac
Speedio is a network speed testing tool for macOS from AppYogi Software. It is meant to test download speed, upload speed and latency directly from the Mac menu bar. Speedio is able to run a one-click test with its own algorithm, allowing users to schedule repeated tests automatically and store results instead of opening a browser and navigating to a speed test website. Version 4.4 is a maintenance release with crash and bug fixes and general stability improvements continuing the regular update cadence of the app. Speedio is different from many other speed test tools that run in a browser in that it tests single-threaded, rather than opening multiple connections at the same time as, for example, Ookla's Speedtest.net does. The developer says this is more representative of the way most browsing and downloading actually works in everyday life. The app also says it can’t be fooled by Power Boost or other speed-enhancing utilities, and it’s designed to give results that reflect real-world Mac internet performance. In addition to Speedio’s own testing algorithm, users can run tests through Ookla (speedtest.net), Netflix (fast.com), AT&T and Google’s Fiber Speed Test directly from the app. Test history can be exported as .txt or .csv reports complete with date and time stamps.
