Sonic Mania Plus 1.0
Sonic Mania Plus is SEGA's expanded edition of Sonic Mania, adding Encore Mode — a new story campaign featuring playable newcomers Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel — alongside reworked zone layouts and a 4-player competition mode. It preserves the original game's 60 FPS HD retro-style 2D platforming.

Sonic Mania Plus 1.0 Story
Encore Mode picks up after the events of Sonic Forces, with Sonic returning to his version of Angel Island only to discover that Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel have been trapped there. As Sonic investigates, he finds himself once again pursuing the mysterious Phantom Ruby, this time facing off against the Hard Boiled Heavies and Dr. Eggman in a story that reframes and expands on the original Sonic Mania's classic-Sonic-universe adventure.
Sonic Mania Plus 1.0 Gameplay
Sonic Mania Plus retains the fast, physics-driven 2D platforming that defined the original Sonic Mania, running at 60 FPS with reimagined classic zones, new bosses, and the series' signature ring-collecting, spin-dashing action. Encore Mode adds a layer of team-based strategy: players can switch between Sonic and a partner character (Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, or Ray) found via in-level Character Monitors, each offering different traversal and combat options suited to different obstacles. Outside the main campaign, the 4-player competition mode lets friends race head-to-head or in teams across selected zones, extending the replayability well beyond a single playthrough of the story content.
