SkyChart: Airline Executive puts players in the role of a founding CEO, expanding an airline from a few biplanes in 1930 to a vast empire of aviation. As the decades fly by, the story is told via real aviation history – the shadow of WWII, the dawn of the jet age, deregulation and oil crises, the rise of mega-hubs and ultra-long haul travel, the disruption of COVID19 and ultimately the emergence of sustainable, hydrogen and electric powered flight in the Green Frontier era. There isn’t a pre-written story, rather the success (or failure) of the airline over the course of an almost century of history is entirely in the player’s own hands through decisions and relationships with rival airlines.
SkyChart: Airline Executive Mac Gameplay
The game consists in opening and managing routes between real cities in the world, balancing the purchase and lease of aircraft with the profitability of the routes and configuring the cabin classes to maximise the yield. Players can hire executives, invest in airport hubs, and engage in regional diplomacy to open new territory. Players can use dashboards like the Strategic Advisor and Fleet Overview to monitor their monthly route performance. Players face changing operational challenges from historical events and a live weather system, with up to 35 rival AI-controlled airlines fighting for the same passengers and slots, and the odd chance to buy out a rival that’s struggling. As you move through five historical eras, your progress is tracked. You must complete each era before you can gain access to new aircraft, cities and economic conditions.
