MMORPG Tycoon 2 is a world-builder and management sim from VectorStorm, a small Australian studio. You get an empty game world and shape all of it: terrain, towns, monsters, quests and character classes. Then you open your game to simulated players. They level up, complain, quit, cheat and ask for help. Your job is to keep them subscribed and paying, so you can cover server and bandwidth costs. Despite the name, it’s not a multiplayer game. Every “player” in your MMO is run by the computer.

Shape the world. Raise land from the sea, sculpt terrain, and place scenery, roads, villages and towns. Design classes and monsters. Set how player classes and monsters look and fight, then buff or nerf them when your subscribers complain. Build quest chains. Create questing areas and linked quests to keep subscribers busy as they level up. Manage your community. Ban cheaters, warn troublemakers, help stuck players, or hire game masters to do it for you. Pick a business model. Charge a box price and a monthly subscription, or go free-to-play and sell potions and weapons as microtransactions.
