Temecula DSP DRE-2K 0.2.1
DRE-2K is a digital reverb plugin from Temecula DSP that faithfully recreates the rare Sony DRE-2000 hardware unit, built algorithmically from the original schematics and validated against physical hardware measurements. With 4 reverb modes, 4 echo/delay modes, 50 factory presets, and the original unit's distinctive remote-control workflow, it's designed for building tight drum rooms, plates, halls, and vintage-style echoes.

About Temecula DSP DRE-2K 0.2.1 for Mac
DRE-2K is a digital reverb plugin from Temecula DSP, built as a faithful software recreation of the coveted Sony DRE-2000 hardware reverb unit — a rare, sought-after digital effects processor known for the distinctive character it brought to drum rooms, plates, and halls. The plugin's development began when Temecula DSP's creator sourced one of the last remaining copies of the original DRE-2000 Operations Manual, complete with schematics, from Studio Electronics in Burbank, and spent five months building an algorithmic recreation validated against a physical unit. What sets DRE-2K apart from a typical vintage reverb emulation is the depth of its hardware validation. The developer tested the plugin against 25 impulse responses captured directly from a physical Sony DRE-2000, covering all four factory reverb programs at five different decay settings plus five additional documented configurations — used strictly as reference measurements, since DRE-2K itself is a purely algorithmic implementation rather than a convolution-based emulation. The resulting match is remarkably close, with published RT-60 decay measurements across frequency bands landing within hundredths of a second of the original hardware. Sony released two versions of the DRE-2000 with the same hardware but improved algorithms on the second unit, and DRE-2K can reproduce either version via a built-in switch. DRE-2K is available as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin for macOS and Windows. Version 0.2.1 continues Temecula DSP's active development of the plugin, which preserves the original hardware's distinctive desktop remote-control workflow directly in its interface, letting users select effects, adjust parameters, and compare dry and processed signal exactly as they would on the physical unit. A free demo is available directly from the developer.
